MY LAGBUS EXPERIENCE

I was “fortunate” to board the famous LAGbus yesterday. ….yes oh……Sykik has been back to Lagos for 2 years and gets to enter LAGbus for the first time yesterday..I am sure that some of you ,my Lagos darlings, haven’t been on the bus sef…infact I am keeping my ticket as souvenir……hehehehe…I am so proud of my self. I have been robbed and almost kidnapped in a commercial bus (popularly known as danfo) so I have a serious phobia for public transport. I will gist that gist one day…I love Naija English die…where else can you use gist in a sentence and it sounds so sexy like this …. yeah, I will gist that gist one day…lol…
I was at the Berger Lagbus Park and I had a rather funny first experience.
Sykik: Madam, please, I am going to Lagos Island, which bus do I board?
Madam: My sister, this bus is going to TBS on Lagos Island; however you need to walk to the other gate to buy your ticket
Sykik: Thank you ma’am
I walked towards the gate she pointed; my feet started aching after about 2 minutes because I was wearing heels not made for “wakaing” this type of “waka”. As a Lagos babe, heads high, shoulders straight, I sauntered to the gate. The Ticket Seller is a lady scruffily dressed and looks like she’s in her mid-twenties. Her body language is that of a dissatisfied staff and not an inch of what a customer service person should be. Her disposition is so totally off…no smiles, she’s reclined into her plastic chair (which by the way looks uncomfortable) and the total package is a no- no for me. I found myself thinking “Poor girl, I am sure she’s not well paid”.
Sykik: I would like to buy a ticket please (I give her N1000 note)
Ticket Seller: The ticket is N150 and I don’t have change
Sykik: I don’t have change as well, so what are we going to do. I want to get on the bus
Ticket Seller: I don’t know (she retorts)
After, waiting for about 20minutes, she was able to gather enough money from other passengers to make up my change. She kept grumbling about not having change as she handed over the change..…hanhan…… “I am a first timer” I almost screamed at her, “it has do oh”
I collected my ticket and what do I see, the Bus is about taking off…my people, come and see Sykik running 440 oh…I pick race, kia kia…dropped all my “poshness” and kept using one “kain“ wicked eye for the Ticket Seller, in my mind, I am like if I miss this bus, this babe will hear “ween” from my mouth.
To God be the glory, I caught up with the bus …phew…it was a close shave.
The bus was rickety and dust hung on almost every available surface in the bus.  The ride was nice and fast and I am sure the Driver was driving over 120km/hr but as I couldn’t see the speedometer I can’t prove that.
Do I want to ride in a LAGbus again? …..maybe, maybe not….. however, if I ever do again,  I would love to be served by a happy Ticket Seller and ride in a clean and not a rickety-looking bus and hopefully I may have a better story to tell about my next experience in a LAGbus.
My overall score of the Service: 5
Regardless of my experience with the bus ride, I love Governor Fashola….he’s my favourite governor, he looks, talks and acts smart unlike some who believes that their name has brought GOODLUCK to Nigeria.
Does anyone have a different experience?

I've taken the LAGBUS before as well and it was a fun ride, although that was almost 4years ago. There are the ones with AC, I believe those ones would be better maintained.

  8. hank you for sharing this experience. Your feedback is well noted and appreciated. Issues discussed such as Cleanliness and Change after purchasing tickets are some challenges we continuously strive to overcome everyday.

Bearing in mind the amount of passengers we cater to, there's always a high percentage purchasing tickets with N1,000 notes. In order to avoid delay during boarding or unnecessary confrontation, we advise passengers to try & ensure having the exact denominations in ticket purchase value or close to it. Although we try to have smaller currency denominations at often, having the correct ticket value during purchase makes transactions and service delivery much faster.

As regards cleanliness, we ensure improvement everyday. Recently, we shall be commissioning an Ultra-Modern Bus Wash Facility to ensure buses are cleaned better and faster. We would continue improving this service and do more. Thank you.

For direct comments/observations or pictures of our Ultra-Modern Bus Wash Facility you can visit our Facebook Page - LAGBUSOfficial. You can also send inquiries to enquiries@lagbus.com or follow us on Twitter - @lagbusofficial. We follow back.

    Thanks again.

    1. Wow…I never expected a comment from LAGBUS Asset Management Ltd when I did my post. I just narrated my experience. However, I am very grateful that you took time out to read my post and drop a comment as well. My suggestions regarding having a cleaner and “dent-free” bus will be

      1. Pay the drivers’ accident-free bonus at the end on every year. This will encourage them to keep the buses accident free and without dents. Please, note that this stipend will be paid to drivers whose buses have not been involved in any form of “bashing”, “scratching”, “kissing” or any other form of major accidents. I want to believe that the drivers will treat the buses like their personal property because of this bonus and will clean both the interior and exterior of the buses. Also, incentives like housing upfront for bus drivers who have spent 3 or 4 years in the employ of LAGBUS Asset Management Ltd might be considered. This is to buy employee loyalty

      2. The corporate organisations that use the buses for branding should be encouraged to take a cursory look at the buses carrying their brands. That speaks volume; they can be encouraged to have incentives for the bus drivers to keep the buses neat and accident free during the duration that the bus is branded by them. I have seen buses with torn adverts. It’s an eyesore to have branded buses looking all rickety and run down. That’s bad marketing. There should be someone responsible for ensuring that the adverts are properly glued and once it starts peeling, it should be replaced.

It’s almost as if the buses start to disintegrate after some few months of usage….Please, please, the buses shouldn’t be allowed to disintegrate like the famous “molues” or “danfo” buses.

Its not just about the service, the packaging of the bus will encourage more of the middle class citizens of Lagos to use your “park and ride” service. If I can afford to have and drive a “clean” ride, then the incentive for riding in your bus should be that I will be seen stepping out of a clean and posh LAGBUS.

      Thank you.

      I rest my case…Eko oni baje.. :)

  10. I have been on the LAG-bus. I have to ride it once a month for my training sessions on the island and it is cool.
The only issue is where to find it now that the Lagos-Badagry expressway is being constructed. I guess I just have to go into Festac and ride other buses.
It is smooth, not dirty and very fast. That is what I like best about it.
