SHOUT OUT TO THE “SWALLOW” FAMILY

Have you ever been faced with the revelation that the only appealing meal to have with the vegetable soup well garnished with ponmo, smoked fish, cow leg and “orisirisi” meat staring your “aje butterish” face can only be Eba/semovita/amala/pounded yam”.  The revelation is so overwhelming that Eba/semovita/amala/pounded yam begins to look sexy and appealing to the stomach.............suddenly, your stomach begins to growl in heavenly praises because God is  performing a miracle of making a “tush”, “I-am-watching-my-weight”, “I-don’t-eat-swallow”, “I-won’t-be-caught-dead-eating-that-thing, it’s-so-gross” “britico-laced-with-American-accent” lady take a morsel of Eba/semovita/amala/pounded yam into her mouth. Let somebody shout halleluiah........

If you be naija pikin, born and raised in naija and never ate Eba/semovita/ amala/pounded yam ,abeg, this post is not for you....you won’t understand what it feels like to take a morsel of Eba/semovita/ amala/pounded yam and dip into a rich bowl of vegetable soup ....... the final destination is your mouth......even the worms in your stomach begin to celebrate because they are tired of the Chinese, Italian, pizzas, sharwama, pasta, salmon, sushi, and all the other “oyinbo” food it has been subjected to in the past months..........

My darling, do you remember this song.....

Oh eba !
Oh eba !
When shall I see ila and egusi
I will never forget ponmo!!!!

...Ireti, give us food oh

How can I forget ewedu and egusi
I will never forget ponmo!!!!
